$25 dollars for a 30 minute lesson.

$35 for a 45 minute lesson.

$45 for a one hour lesson.

____________

How much do lessons cost?

What about travel lessons…

will you teach at my house?

Yes! As long as you are not too far away. For travel lessons, you are paying me for the time I am away from my studio. I also have to pack up books and supplies and equipment to bring along as well as gas and wear and tear on my vehicle, so this convenience comes at a price. I charge $1 per minute of travel time, but remember travel time is both there and back. So if you live 15 minutes away, that is also 15 minutes back, so that is 30 minutes of travel time. This will be calculated based off of an average travel time and should be the same for each of your lessons.

____________

How do lesson payments work?

To get started, a trial lesson or two can be paid one lesson at a time on the day of the lesson. Once you decide to continue with regular lessons, payments are made one month at a time in advance—due at the last lesson of the month for the following month. I accept Cash, Check, Money Order, Venmo, and Cash App. If you pay in person here at the studio with a physical payment such as Cash, you will get a physical receipt.

____________

How often are lessons?

Lessons are at a minimum of once per week on the same day at the same time. Some students choose to do two lessons per week. Unfortunately part-time “every other week” lessons or less frequent lessons will not work, it still occupies an entire lesson slot whether that student is here that week or not, limiting my availability to full-time students. To be a student, you are expected to be able to attend the majority of lessons throughout the year.

____________

As a piano student, you are reserving a weekly “Lesson Slot” of time—which is the same day and time each week. For “planned” missed lessons known in advance, you are still expected to pay a 1/3rd price “Retaining Fee” of the lessons missed to hold your time slot.

The Retaining Fee is: $10 for 30 minute lessons, $12.50 for 45 minute lessons, and $15 for hour lessons.

Other teachers charge full price no matter what and issue no credits for any reason…so I hope you can join me in this compromise. Without it I would not be able to afford to be a piano teacher because of all the many vacations and other events my students choose to participate in.

____________

What about vacation?

I try to be as reasonable as I can. If something pops up—like a medical emergency or your car breaks down and you are stranded on the side of the road for example—then I will try to schedule a make-up lesson later that same day if possible or the following day(s). If no make-up is possible, then I will credit that lesson to the next available date for your regular day of the week and time.

However, if you are missing your lesson because you left too late, or you didn’t practice enough this week, or you “just can’t make it”…then I am sorry. I do not issue credits for frivolous reasons. It needs to be a serious reason and you need to tell me what it is, if you want a credit for your lesson.

____________

What about unplanned absences?

If there is a serious storm, or a hurricane, or snow, etc. then I do not expect you to drive. Lessons will be credited. However, I do not cancel lessons just because it is raining. I do want you to be safe, but I also expect my students to make every reasonable effort to attend scheduled lessons—unless the weather is, in fact, severe.

What about inclement weather?

If you come down with a cold or a sickness, then please! Don’t bring it to me! If I get sick then I may potentially have to cancel a lot of lessons for a lot of students! If this happens then we may try to see if we can do online lessons temporarily until you feel better, as long as you feel well enough to practice. If you do not feel well enough to practice, then I will credit any lessons and we will apply them when you get to feeling normal and start back up again.
